I am working to learn Japanese and Portuguese on Duolingo.
I love the program and it is 100% worth paying for, but the fact that even when paying it keeps asking for ratings, putting widgets on my home screen, or turning on notifications bothers me.
You already have my money now please don't bother me.

Spending much of my time trainning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I am coming up on a year of training and am loving it.
I have done Tae Kwon Do and Muay Thai in the past, so this is my first forray into grappling.
It fits my temperment perfectly.
I found that I did not like the performative (read non combat) aspects of Tae Kwon Do.
And I don't have the aggressive instinct and willingness to hurt that Muay Thai needs.
I have started competing and plan to contiue doing so.
I started studying for the CompTIA ITF+ certification test but that has fallen off in the last little bit.
I have been learning hardware and networking playing with my home network and a small homelab consisting of my NAS and a few raspberry pis.
Just not very stoked on going for certifications and much prefer to learn this stuff by just playing around with it than reading textbooks and doing practice questions.

I am thinking of and working towards more independence in life.
Derek Siver's <a href="https://sive.rs/ti">tech independence</a> post has been extremely useful and catalyzed actually setting up my own server.
I didn't follow it exactly.
I decided to use Arch Linux instead of OpenBSD.
I do most of my programming in Rust for making personal tools and wanted an OS with better support for that.
Have just finished setting up some self hosted software.
Firefly for budgeting and personal finance.
Pihole for local network addblocking and as a DNS server.
Syncthing to keep all my devices synchronized.
Slowly working to have more and more of my digital life hosted myself, and it feels good to have control over these things even though it is more work.

No more Javascript.
Next step is to add some curated pages.

I have found a lot of utility in those pages on other personal websites and have started working on doing the same with this one.
